10 Tips to Dominate Dental Marketing (part 5)

Welcome to the final day of our weeklong look at marketing techniques that can help you grow your practice. Today, I’m going to be a total buzzkill on a couple of buzzwords in web marketing right now. Stay tuned.

– Colin here, and thanks for joining me this week as we looked at ways dentists can successfully use web marketing to attract more and better patients.

– Day 1 we talked about increasing the share of your marketing that goes to web marketing and tracking the ROI on it.

– Day 2 we talked about making yourself easy to find online and capturing prospect’s contact information so you can stay in front of them until they schedule an appointment.

– Day 3, we talked about creating social proof through video testimonials and online reviews, and for using other people’s good ideas.

– Yesterday, we talked about the kind of content you should produce.

– All very positive do’s, if you will.

– Today, I want to give you some don’ts.

– For instance, I will tell you AGAIN not to waste your resources on social media marketing.

– The main reason is that you are wasting your effort if you devote your staff’s time or your time or your money to paying someone else to shotgun messages onto Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Pinterest and any of those others.

– The ROI just isn’t there because the prospects are not there looking for a dentist.

– Even if they were, posting on Facebook only reaches 6% of people who follow your Facebook page.

– And it’s going to drop to 1% or 2%, according to a Time piece.

– While social media engagement does help your SEO, the benefit is not worth the effort.

– The same goes with so called  “influencer marketing.”

– Here is what I would ask you: Can you name someone in your community that if their online followers ALL decided to call you, it would significantly help you?

– What if you could get your town’s mayor, a local celebrity, or the biggest blogger in your community to endorse you?

– Man that would be sweet, wouldn’t it?

– But that’s not how it works.

– First, you have to identify the influencers.

– Then, you have to take time to connect with that person.

– That is not a one-time deal.

– Then you have to have something to give them in return.

– What, is someone with a big following going to tout you without wanting anything in return?

– That’s an awful lot to ask.

– So that wraps up our series.

– If you want more tips on web marketing that will attract the patients YOU want, I want to tell you about my book  “Attract More Patients in the Next Six Months Than in the Last Six Years.” The book is the culmination of all my marketing expertise, and it can be yours for only the $4.97 cost of shipping at www.MoreAndBetterPatients.com while supplies last.
