A Clever Way Dentists Can Use Video

I hope you saw my podcast yesterday about dentists should plan their videos. Today, I’m going to give you a way to use video that I bet you’ve never thought of. Stay tuned.

– Welcome to another week of the Patient Attraction Podcast.

– Today, I want to talk more about video, of which I am a big fan.

– But I’m going to talk about mixing video with something I don’t love, and that is organic social media.

– I am not a big advocate of spending a lot of time on Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Snapchat or any other social media for one big reason: your prospects are not on social media looking for a dentist.

– Your friends and family are on there.

– Your existing patient are on there.

– But new patients are not using social media to find a dentist – they’re using Google.

– Here is where the two worlds collide: if you can get some serious run on social media, meaning that lots of people are sharing a link to your site that other people are clicking, then you can get some search engine value from that.

– Today, I will give you an idea that might help you get that run.

– When someone reaches out to you via social media, how do you respond?

– Do you or a staff member write a quick note back to the person, answering their question or addressing their issue?

– You should be, and you need to do so promptly.

– Do you follow up with a phone call to the person if you can?

– A good idea, especially if the person has a complaint.

– What about a personal note?

– Do you or someone in your office send a personalized card to people who contact you via social media?

– You might not do this with everyone, but you could do so for at least some.

– Now, what about video?

– Have you ever made a video responding to a person’s inquiry?

– There are a couple of ways to do this:

  1. You can record some high-quality videos addressing the most common questions and concerns.

– You send each person a response with a link to the video.

– It takes a little time on the front end to record the videos, but it makes a good impression on the back end.

  1. You could record a response from your computer.

– Me, I like to use a program called Screencast-O-Matic (http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/).

– It’s simple to install and use.

– You can record a video, post it to your YouTube channel, and reply to the person with a link.

– Of course, you don’t want to put in information that is personal to that person, as the video would be public.

– But sending videos is a good way to show your social media followers that you are responsible, personal, and innovative.
