– Too many dental blogs, however, don’t achieve the results that dentists want.

– The end goal of all your marketing should be to put more patients in chairs.

– If you’re just starting out, following these 5 tips can save you a lot of wasted time and effort.

– Number 1: Write to be read easily.

– There’s a huge amount of content on the internet, and yours has to hook your readers and keep them.

– That means a great topic, short sentences, and easy-to-understand words.

– It has to be conversational, not an essay.

– Number 2: Keep it focused.

– There’s almost no topic that will appeal to everyone, and trying to make it appeal weakens your writing and your prospects’ interest.

– Focusing on one segment of your patients gets you fewer readers, but more readers who are likely to take action.

– Number 3: Add visual interest.

– These days, no one wants to read a wall of text online.

– That’s a sure way to lose the very people you want to attract.

– Adding pictures and charts makes your blog posts more interesting, while white space makes them easier to read.

– Number 4: Less than 20 percent of your posts should be about you.

– Your personality needs to show through your writing, not through your content.

– Focus on providing information that your prospects want to know and can use.

– Be sure to include a “next steps” call to action that invites your readers to get more information or to schedule an appointment.

– And number 5: Don’t do stream-of-conscious writing.

– Professionals can pull that off sometimes, but for most dentists, it creates a badly structured blog post.

– Do at least a little outlining or organizing of your thoughts before you start writing.
