A recent article points out that younger consumers are not only the most likely to post reviews, they’re also most likely to read and trust them. – Online reviews are the new word-of-mouth advertising for dental practices.

– And while not everyone trusts online reviews, enough prospective patients do to make a difference for your practice.

– A recent study revealed that the age group most likely to read and trust online reviews is the 18-34 group.

– This group searches online for businesses more often than any other.

– They’re more comfortable using a mobile device to search.

– And they’re more likely to write, read, and trust online reviews than other age groups.

– If you’re marketing to this these younger folks, and you should be, online reputation management is crucial.

– You absolutely cannot afford to leave negative reviews unaddressed.

– And you need to have a response policy in place before you address negative reviews.

– That way you can take the emotion out of your reaction.

– Negative public reviews deserve a positive public response.

– That doesn’t mean you should roll over on unwarranted slams.

– It does mean that you should address them in a way that will position you as both reasonable and helpful.

– You also need to respond to positive online reviews.

– This is an opportunity to open a dialogue and to let future readers learn more about you.

– And those readers include potential patients from other age groups.

– They also read online reviews and use them to help decide which dentist to choose.

– So maintaining your online persona is an absolute must to attract new patients.

– It needs to be part of your overall marketing strategy, particularly when Internet use is exploding.
