Patient Attraction Episode 054: The 1 Fact You Must Know to Attract More Patients

Hello, Colin Receveur here. Today is Monday, February 3rd and today I want to talk about the single most important thing that you need to know about attracting new patients online.

So today I mentioned that I want to talk about the single most important item that you need to attract patients online. I think the best way that I’ve heard it put in the past is:

You have to enter the conversation that’s already taking place inside your patient’s mind.

A lot of dentists market with talking about discounts and freebies and lifetime teeth whitening and these different discounted offers, but if you’re looking to attract specific types of patients, namely patients that have stayed away from the dentist for a number of years, have big problems, have deep disability type dental work that needs to be done. You have to understand that they have stayed away from the dentist for all these years for, primarily one problem, and typically that reason, that problem they have is that they have a tremendous fear of the dentist. They might have lack of finance as well. They probably had a bad dental experience in the past.

What you need to do is understand that you have to tailor your marketing to talk to them.

A lot of dentists want to talk about their education and their continuing ed. and the technology that they have and everything about me, me, me, me. If you can re-tailor your marketing message to talk about your patients, what you can do for them, how you can help your patients. It’s not about your location or your services, it’s about what you can do to alleviate the pain that they’re having, the embarrassment over their missing teeth, the dissatisfaction they have over not being able to eat the foods they love.

If you can identify their pain points and talk directly to them, and then offer them a solution, then offer the services and the continuing ed. and all these different items that you have spent a great deal of time and energy and your money investing yourself in. Your patients will be able to relate to you and they’ll understand what it is that you have to offer and what you can do to fix their problems.

There’s a disconnect between a lot of dental marketing and the marketing that patients want to see.

A lot of dentists, their marketing is more tailored to market for other dentists than it is to market to patients. Once you can get your arms around that and reconfigure, re-tailor your marketing to be towards the patients that you want to attract, your success will go up tremendously.
