Patient Attraction Episode 74: Survey Says, Competition is Fierce Among Dentists

Hey everybody, Colin Receveur here, and this week I’m going to share the results of a recent dental-interest survey. What you hear may surprise you. Stay tuned.

– This is a from survey of 300 30-65-year-olds in California (there’s a reason for the saying, “As California goes, so goes the nation”); about 60% affluent baby boomers, about 40% younger, affluent and interested in improving their looks, including teeth

– Here are three points that are important for dentists trying to grow their practice:

– 29 percent of those polled said they needed work done

– This means opportunity is there as these people know they have a need.

– Almost all (88 percent) surveyed said they have a regular dentist

– Of those, nearly 70 percent are general dentists that can do more complex work

– That means dentists face a lot of competition from each other and from doing nothing (remember, 7 out of 10 said they didn’t need any dental work) and must differentiate what makes them the dentist of choice

– Tomorrow we’ll talk about how those surveyed chose their dentist or would choose today. Until then, keep moving forward.
