Patient Attraction Episode 968

Online dental reviews have always been a mixed bag. Dentists have been forced to take the bad with the good. Now, though, the very bad reviews can draw a penalty from Google. I’ll be back to tell you about Google’s new policy and what you should do about it.

– I’m Colin Receveur.

– Thanks for watching the Patient Attraction Podcast™.

– Online reviews are the new word-of-mouth advertising and they can have a profound effect on your new patient recruitment.

– Glowing reviews are money in the bank, so to speak.

– Negative reviews, justified or not, can damage your efforts to attract more and better patients.

– There are any number of strategies for managing negative online reviews, but keeping close tabs on your reviews has taken on a new urgency.

– Google has changed its guidelines to prohibit vulgar or profane language in reviews.

– Obviously, Google can’t prevent that from happening, but it can and will remove those offending review snippets from its results pages.

– Typically, brief review snippets and ratings appear under or to the right of search engine page results.

– If some of those snippets contain banned language, they simply won’t appear.

– That can put you at a competitive disadvantage.

– You need to regularly review the reviews on your website and remove any that contain profanity or vulgar language.

– You’d do well to add language stating that those types of reviews will be removed to cut down on complaints.

– You may have never gotten a vulgar review, and hopefully you won’t.

– But it will take increased vigilance to make sure that reviews aren’t sabotaging your online marketing efforts.

– Dr. David Maloley, a SmartBox dentist in Colorado, understands the importance of online reviews.

– : “Google has replaced the Yellow Pages. Having great reviews online is the way of the future.

– “I just think that time has come and to ignore that is at your own peril.

– “I knew that you were on top of the game and you had helped a lot of other practices out.

– “For me, it was an obvious choice to connect with Colin.”

– Join me for our next podcast.

– Until tomorrow, keep moving forward.
