Patient Attraction Episode 802

An article in June 2015 discussed the state of dental care in the United States. Despite all medical advances and the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, significant fractions of all segments of the population have untreated tooth decay. That may sound discouraging, but it also offers opportunity to the entrepreneurial dentist. I’ll be back after the break to tell you how to turn problem into opportunity.

– Thanks for joining me for today’s episode of the Patient Attraction Podcast.

– I’m Colin Receveur.

– The article, published by The American Association of Health Care Journalists, reviewed the findings from a survey conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics.

– 25 percent of whites had untreated tooth decay compared to 42 percent of blacks, 36 percent of Hispanics, and 17 percent of Asian American adults.

– However, whites were more likely to get treatment for dental caries.

– Nearly 19 percent of adults aged 65 and over were edentulous.

– What the article demonstrates is the extent of unmet dental need in the U.S.

– Depending on the demographics of your market, that unmet need equals opportunity.

– No one dentist can supply services for all the people who need them.

– But a group of dentists in different specialties can make an impact.

– And that impact is newsworthy.

– Public outreach efforts may not directly make you money, but they will help the public view you as a caring dentist.

– And that can help you get more and better patients.

– Speaking of more patients, if you want to see what an integrated patient attraction system can do for your marketing, visit www.smartboxwebmarketing.com.

– Join me for tomorrow’s podcast.

– Until then, keep moving forward.
